Bloom: Exploring The Transition Period

Exploring The Transition Period

Whether you have recently graduated school, are beginning a new job, or made a big move, it’s important to explore the next stage of the journey that you are about to embark on. Transitions can sometimes be difficult to go through, but there are a few things that can help make it a little easier....

Find your place....

Yes, it might take a little time but be patient with yourself; life is about growth and change. There’s a reason why you have made it this far. Know that you are qualified for what comes next, whether it’s going off to college or starting a new job. Keep in mind that life is a learning process and that you are exactly where you need to be.  Starting off ou might feel a little uncomfortable but find spaces where you can apply your strengths.

Self-love is the best love....

It’s important to recognize all the feelings that you are experiencing through the changes; remember that is normal to feel happy and sad during big transitions.  During those times it is essential to reconnect with yourself. Self love can help you survive a lot of tough situations. Take time out to go to your favorite bakery or spend an afternoon watching re-runs of your favorite show on Netflix. Treat Yo' Self! You'll feel a lot better afterwards.

If at first you don't succeed....

It’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you handle your mistakes the best way you can. What do I mean by this? It’s easy to become frustrated and upset by a mistake that’s been made but don’t let negative emotions get the best of you. Take the time to acknowledge what went wrong, what can be done about the situation and what you can learn from the situation. Being solution based over problem focused can really make a difference.

Discover Friendships....

You can get by with a little help from your friends. Seeking out solid friendships during a transition period is important. Even more importantly, finding friends who are in the same stage as you are can be super beneficial.  They are more likely to understand what you are going through and can be your support system. Don't be afraid or ashamed to reach out to those who care about you if you are having a hard time.

Remember to put trust in yourself!  Don't worry as you embark on the next stage of your life, you're going to soar. Yes, it may take a little bit of time to find your footing but if you seek happiness through your experiences, you're guaranteed to enjoy the journey!
