Chic Style: Beach Bag Basics

beach bag basics

It's officially Spring!!  At Rosie Toes, we are so happy Spring has finally arrived!!  This month's edition has been filled with Spring Break posts, and of course, we couldn't forget to share what we pack in our beach bags!  A classic beach tote is my favorite Spring Break staple!  I get so excited to pack all my beach day basics into a new cute tote.  There are a few key items I like to pack in my tote, for a relaxing day sitting beachside and soaking up the warm sun.  I've put together a list of my go to beach day basic to share with you....

1. Classic Cut Offs

We love a classic pair of cut off jean shorts.  They are great for throwing over your swimsuit to go grab some ice cream.  We particularly like the style of a looser fit and higher set waist, plus they look great on all body types. (Boyfriend denim • J.Crew)

2. Chic Sunnies

A pair of chic sunnies is a must for a day at the beach.  Nothing ruins a fun beach day more than having to squint at the sun all day.  Pick a chic pair of sunnies, and remember the bigger, the better protection from the sun.  (54mm Sunnies • BP)

3. Cute Sandals

It’s not a day at the beach without a pair of cute flip flops! This pair only costs slightly more than an ice cream cone, and you won't have to worry about ruining them with water.  (Sandals • Mossimo)

4. Pretty Cover Up

Another important item we pack in our beach bag is a pretty cover up.  A cover up adds a touch of of chic to any summer outing.  This season we are loving pretty floral prints and lace cover ups.  Find a cover up that fits you comfortably, we prefer ours to be a bit oversized for an easy ocean side ensemble.  (Floral Print Tassels Kimono • ChicNova)

5. Bright Swimsuit

For a fun day in the sun, we like to wear a bright swimsuit.  We found this fun swimsuit at modcloth.  It adds the right amount of color for a day spent soaking in the warm sun.  (Fresh From the Garden Swimsuit • ModCloth)

6. Sunscreen

A day in the sun isn't complete without applying and reapplying SPF.  This sunscreen is great because it's hypoallergenic and won't clog your pores.  You can even apply around your face for protection .  If you still want a little color, don't skimp on the sun protection by going for a lower SPF.  (Sunscreen Lotion, Sensitive Skin, SPF 60 • Neutrogena)

7. Floppy Hat

A floppy hat is a cute way to keep your face safe and out of the sun.  Even if you apply an SPF to your face, your face still needs extra protection.   Wearing a floppy hat beachside is a great way to avoid ending up with a bright red nose.  We are loving floppy hats paired with big bows.  This hat is adorable, but you can also purchase a cheaper plain floppy hat and some ribbons and make a DYI Bow Floppy hat!  (Ribbon Sun Hat • LolaBow Straw Hat • Bloomingdale)

8. Beach Pouch

Bring your phone or iPad  with you to listen to tunes on the beach with this cute, water-resistant pouch. It safely stores your iPad and phone inside while keeping your devices protected from the sand and splashing.  (Clear Cool Beach Case)

9. Oversize Tote

Between sunscreen, your favorite read, flip flops, water and snacks, you have a lot to carry! This fun canvas tote fits all your beach gear.  Another great idea for a beach bag is a classic straw tote.  (Sequin Tote • Vanessa Bruno I Pink Reversible Vegan Leather Tote • Nordstrom)

10. Water Bottle

A day in sun is not complete without staying hydrated.  It's no fun to get dehydrated after being in sun all day.  So, make sure you keep hydrated throughout the day by sipping on water every 15 minutes!  This cute and sparkling water makes it easy for us to grab an extra gulp!  (Glitter Water Bottle Kate Spade)
